Supreme Court Sales Tax Ruling
Thursday, June 21, 2018
The Supreme Court delivered a decision on the South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. online sales tax case in favor of South Dakota. The ruling permits South Dakota’s application to charge sales tax regardless of whether the online vendor has property or employees in the state. This ruling drastically changes the sales tax and nexus landscape for the first time in over 25 years and attention will now be placed on Congress and to other states to see how they will react.
