Q3 Tax Deadlines for Business Owners
We are already into the 3rd quarter of the year. While not an exhaustive list for business owners you need to stay current on deadlines through September 30. Below is a quick summary of the due dates and deadlines.
- July 15: Deposit Social Security, Medicare, and withheld income taxes for June.
- July 31: File Form 941 for income tax withholding and FICA taxes for Q2 2024 and pay any tax due. File or extend Form 5500 for retirement plans.
- August 12: If taxes were deposited in full and on time, file Form 941 for Q2 2024.
- September 16: C corporations pay the third installment of 2024 estimated taxes. S corporations and partnerships file extended 2023 tax returns (Form 1120-S, Form 1065) and pay taxes due. Make contributions to certain employer-sponsored retirement plans for 2023.
Remember, this list is not exhaustive, and there may be other deadlines that apply to your specific situation. It’s always a good idea to consult with a tax professional or refer to the IRS Publication 509 for the most current information and for any additional deadlines that may be relevant to you.
